We recently had the opportunity to visit with and do a final photo shoot at one of our completed projects on Shamineau Lake in Morrison County. The cabin has a mountain modern design style which features a slab foundation, 1665 sf main level living space including a master bunk room with cozy sun room, 2 washrooms, a mud room, entry and laundry, 436 sf garage, open lodge room, eatery and kitchen. There is an additional 1188 sf of living space on the upper level including 2 additional bunk rooms, wash room and tv/game room with balcony deck overlooking Shamineau Lake. This design was a challenge because of the small building envelope due to a bluff behind the structure which limited how deep the building could be.

The new design studio barn is officially complete and I am now meeting with clients in the new space to create their custom and unique home and cabin designs. My goal was to create a relaxing rustic workspace with the feel of my grandpa and grandma's vintage workshop which my dad and uncles tinkered in when they were growing up. I also wanted to showcase the range of different materials that can be used in a new rustic home, cabin or remodeling project. The barn features reclaimed board and batten siding, hand hewn timbers and corbel brackets, rusty tin roofing and ceiling, and many more rustic touches. The large insulated sliding barn door on the interior can be opened or closed depending on the temperature, and there's plenty of flexible counter space on the interior to spread out plans and materials. We had the opportunity to do a final photo shoot at one of our recently completed cabin projects built by builder client, Northland Construction, Inc. from Merrifield, MN. The design features a partial basement for mechanical equipment, 1704 sf main level including 3 bunk rooms, 2 washrooms, a mud room/laundry, large 984 sf garage with lakeside access and covered carport, open lodge room, eatery and kitchen, and open 347 sf loft space which provides spectacular lake views from the balcony above.
