PSA notice;
With the impending Hurricane Milton about to hit in our backyard, I wanted to give some information to those affected by trees.
Insurance companies will pay for licensed insured tree services to remove trees from your driveway to allow access both in/out of it is called Ingress/Regress which would allow an emergency vehicle to safely get to you if you have a medical condition.
Your insurance policy will tell you to SECURE YOUR HOME in the vent of a covered loss. A tree on/in your home does not make it secure. Insurance will again pay reasonable costs for licensed/insured tree service to have trees removed from home, garage, pool, sheds, and even your fences.
Reasonable costs does give people some discretion,and of course is different with everyone.
If you pay up front, your insurance company will reimburse you for those expenses in a timely manner. Your minimum required is your deductible and then could be 30-90 days for the insurance companies to pay. You only have one deductible, and that covers both required trees and rebuilding your covered buildings or structures.
These are all covered under your insurance/wind policy. Find a reputable company and discuss your options. Do not blindly sign over your rights to allow a company to have an open check to your insurance. Make sure you know what the charges are, and what will be performed. Once you are comfortable, get it in writing, sign the contract, and move forward.
Be aware of people just signing contracts and do not own the equipment, or have the crew to come do the work. There is a lot of work that gets farmed out to others, and you lose some of the communication you had.
I am happy to discuss and explain your options, as well as go through your policy documents, so you can get the answers you need.
