Sam's Granite

Sam's Granite In addition to making small items to compliment your home decorating we fabricate and install any marble or granite project. I craft beauty from natural stone.

You can rest assured that your project will be done right and for a fair price. I am an artisan in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, skilled in natural stone (granite & marble) fabrication as well as repairs and restoration. I did not find stone; stone found me! I love working with it, learning about it, and crafting it into GORGEOUS useful items. I’m a member in good standing of the Stone Fabricator

s Alliance, a national organization dedicated to raising the bar in the quality of fabrication of granite. Visit our SFA website, and ask about me if you wish. When people say “granite” in the context of a home, kitchen countertops and bathroom vanities immediately come to mind. Truth be told, there is SO much more that can be done with it, and for a LOT less money. And you’ll still have the exquisite timelessness of natural stone in your home or place of work. There is a “personality” in each and every piece of natural stone. Certainly, one applies to you and your surroundings. Let me craft something beautiful for you. View my inventory, or I can cut, shape, and polish to your specifications. Just send me an email. My pricing is quite reasonable compared to other finished granite sources, and my love and passion for doing it is unequalled. I have a long list of delighted clients, if you want a reference. If you already have Granite or Marble in your life and have problems or questions about it, please drop me an email and I’ll help you to the best of my ability

A piece of small petrified wood that was entirely fun to do. The bottom was extremely rough and pitted, and still had some cushioning fabric attached that she could not scrape off. Both sides are now highly polished and pitting areas filled. I had such fun with this job. If they send me a picture of the final result I will post it. Shipping it back to Texas this morning will need to have an answer, I mean tomorrow morning.

Drove up to cashiers today, To re-top-polish a couple minor deficiencies in some sculpture stands I made for my friend Wesley, the bronze Sculptor. (The sandblaster guy did not adequately mask the top of the Peace and his blasting abrasive got all over the top except for about three quarters of an inch on the sides that he engraved, where the masking material was actually applied.) They're much smaller replicas of a gigantic one he did several months ago, of Jesus holding a little girl on his lap. Two of my bases are 9 cm, three-layered Granite & Marble, and the other three are a single thickness.

10 pieces, total, to be assembled into five sculpture bases. Two of them will be triple thickness 3 cm. The other or are single thickness. With a battle. All have been engraved, on the bevel, and a beautifully done. The engraver, sandblaster, did not mask the upper surface of any of the pieces, and so there will be top polishing to do to clear the top surface polish, at least to underneath the edge of the bronze sculpture to be bolted in. The drilling of the holes cannot be done in a 3 peace lamination, as the drill bit is not long enough. I will therefore have to drill the top piece, and epoxy the to lower pieces together, then drill the to lower pieces, using the holes from the top piece as a marking or template thing location, and then drill the to lower pieces, and then epoxy the top piece on top. This Job proved more complicated than originally expected, by far, but it will turn out gorgeous. Wait and see.

Finalized some detailing on this bronze sculpture base this evening with the Sculptor. Also narrowed down detailing on four more. White Carrara marble, 16x14 inches. The pieces can't be glued up yet, there for the slight gaps between pieces. This will all be solved, as it progresses.

Sure do want to thank all of you who dropped by my space at the Transylvania Farmers Market thismorning! It was so great talking stone, and kids, and grandkids, and life-in-general. Thanks for the purchases, thanks for (you know who you are) the 2 pieces of sweet light-colored granite, thanks to you other friends with whom we are planning projects. I shall await your details, measurements, color-range preferences, etc; and we will firm these jobs up and get them done. To my new headstone client, I am sincerely sorry for your family's deep loss. But thank you all for a wonderful Saturday morning. (Got a bit hot and sweaty at loading-up-time at noon, but oh well, right?) Haha!

I want to thank all of you new clients, and past clients, and passers-by who pause for a moment to BS about Stone and many other things. You all have made my Saturday. What a great morning!. Those several of you with kids that danced the solar powered monkey dance, and selected a core drill hole cut out in their favorite color, and we're so proud of it, made my day, over again. You past clients made my day telling me how much you still enjoy the look and feel of what I made for you in the past. Ucurrent clients, I am on it. You future clients, and you the one who forgot her measurements, I will be on them and have them ready for you, soonest! In any case thank you for absolutely making my Saturday.

Got a leathered ubatuba 40 in by 41 in patio table top completed this morning, and delivered this afternoon, and homeowner and I installed it, (around back of course) but I designed and had built a dolly for that, happy customer check cleared. That's what it's all about, right? That was one heavy son of a bitch for one guy on his own. Let me tell you.
