This set of oak doors was the finishing touch this modern entryway needed!

What before was covered by just a simple curtain, is now enclosed with clean and refined shaker style doors. To unify the room, we drew inspiration from the striking staircase that would sit directly adjacent.

With a natural finish and custom-made steel handles, these doors perfectly conceal our client’s storage space and make this entryway complete.

The perfect addition to any walk-in closet, we designed and built a custom laundry cabinet for our client’s washer and dryer.

This cabinet contains space to house the appliances, custom pull out drawers, and open cubbies for additional storage. We designed it with subtle arched openings at the top to match the style of the existing closet storage.

This cabinet was finished in a sleek and refined black paint which provided the perfect opposition to the bright white throughout the rest of the room.

Who says laundry can’t be fun? With the addition of this chic unit, our clients now have an all-in-one closet that creates an efficient system for a repetitive chore.

to this set of bars that are the epitome of handcraft, high class, and history!

To make the perfect man cave complete, we built this custom bar set for our client’s garage. This piece includes plenty of storage with eight total cabinet boxes, and the perfect set up for fluid movement throughout the room. Featuring beautiful stained-glass pieces and over 40 individual carved panels, this piece pays incredible homage to our client’s Scottish heritage.

To add to its noteworthy appearance, we crafted the bar out of mahogany, including solid hardwood countertops with a custom bar rail. Its deep and warm stain further compliments the abundance of detailed carvings and gives it the perfect aged look.

To add to the beauty of his home, we also crafted a bar for our client’s living room in a similar style. Also utilizing mahogany in the same rich color, this bar contains drawers and cabinet storage, as well as a slot for a mini fridge.

A subtle curve protrusion gives this piece a unique shape and elegance. Complete with its own set of carvings and a personalized Latin inscription, this bar sits as a polished and historically influenced piece in our client’s home.

Take some time to visit the Braddock Carnegie Library to see the new renovations, but especially to check out the “original” bookcases.

We are proud to have been a part of this historical renovation project through the Braddock Carnegie Library Association. This was a two-part operation of reviving and reconstructing the original bookcases, dating back to the library’s initial opening in 1889. The first-floor bookcases were two-sided; we restructured those units and turned them into a one-sided row of cases. We were able to reuse all the parts of these cases to seamlessly reconfigure their setup.

The succeeding part on the second floor was not as easy. A majority of the bookcases unfortunately had a lot of water damage and mold. Due to this, every bookcase had to be meticulously handled and cut down to save the face frame and crown of the cases, which were thankfully not damaged. We built new structures from plywood and had it stained to match the existing bookcases, then attached the original face frames and crown onto the new shelving units. We added a removable back to these cabinets to allow access to the heat and air supply that was behind the units, as well as hidden access doors at the ends.

We restored around 50 individual units from throughout the library, managing to retain the original look and design of the bookcases. It was an incredible experience to work on this project to help preserve a piece of Pittsburgh history!

Doors are always an exciting project for our team, from the design, to thinking through construction, to the final build, each step of the way is essential to deliver a beautiful and robust final product.

We built these custom mahogany doors for our client’s home in historic Lawrenceville. Trying to keep the new doors in a similar style to the house, we referenced a newel post in the front entryway and mimicked the fluting and rosette patterns on the trim surrounding the doors.

Each door, though a different look depending on the room’s function, was made from solid mahogany; with a rich stain color in a gorgeous satin finish, these doors brighten up each room to complete the modern yet historical look.

We custom built this murphy bed unit to allow our clients to transform their spare room from a crafting space to a guest room with ease. Adding this system to the 10’ by 12’ room significantly opened the space, allowing our client to have almost double the room for her quilting projects. Built from poplar and maple with shaker-style paneling, this unit not only provides a clean finish to the room but also provides organized storage.

We designed this unit in a stepped configuration, keeping the side cabinets behind the window trim and closet door, and allowing the bed cabinet to be the hidden focal point of the room. Inside the bed frame includes features such as overhead lighting, a hinged shelf on the headboard, and an outlet and light switch panel within reach.

A truly unique project that allowed our clients’ static space to convert more easily, created a cozy guest room when necessary, and added a unique hidden feature to the home.

We were very honored to get to work with Edgewood Foundation to recreate the iconic Edgewood neighborhood sign! This sign is visible exiting route 376 outbound to enter the neighborhood.

It is made of a steel structure welded together, complete with cast iron embellishment pieces and a vinyl sign wrap to display the neighborhood logo. Standing boldly in red, all the metal was powder-coated, providing the steel with weather-bearing protection for years.

Huge thanks to Techno Metal Post of Pittsburgh for installing their helical pile system with galvanized mounting brackets to support this sign, an impressive system that will hold this sign up for generations.

And an additional thank you to Opaque tinting & graphics for a beautifully printed and wrapped vinyl sign.

When TV’s get bigger, so do the cabinets! Our client had this beautiful cabinetry set complete with a TV cabinet, only issue is that it was for a 30” TV. In order to keep this classic display of woodworking, we completely recreated the TV cabinet but doubled the width. We meticulously measured every inch of the existing unit and applied those measurements to the appropriate size needed for a new television.

This project turned out to be a perfect match to the existing set. We also included a frame-like back to mount the new TV, which gave it a more refined appearance. There are also cord access holes behind the back to keep wires controlled and out of sight. And with the understanding of cherry wood’s tendency to darken over time, we stained it perfectly to match the existing set. An excellent example of classic craftsmanship in the modern era.

Keep it the same but make it different! Not only did this kitchen get a new face with crisp white shaker-style doors, but we rebuilt it to better serve our clients in their day-to-day lives!

While the function and flow of their existing kitchen worked just fine, there were some awkward instances that we were able to make better with a couple of custom innovations. Originally, our clients had a corner sink with the countertop cut at a 45° angle, making the sink small and awkward. To remedy this, we custom built a curved door cabinet, pushing the sink back, allowing for a larger sink bowl with better access. Additionally, a spacer was needed between the two French door appliances for them to open properly; to not waste this space, we custom engineered a 5” wide pullout behind a push-to-open door. Completely hidden to guests, but functional for the homeowners!

Other features included additional spice pullouts on either side of the glass door cabinet, custom above-the-fridge pullouts with side access, making that space usable and reachable, and a decorative bulkhead to provide a seamless finish to the cabinets.

Through creative engineering, we were able to solve some unknown problems, and give our clients the same functional kitchen, but different with some exciting added solutions! The result of this project is a beautiful kitchen, built to last. See more about this project on our website!

A beautiful piece made from mahogany, this cabinet is displayed in the center of our client's living room, viewable from all angles. Knowing its central position, we made each face contain book matched panels, which were also mirrored on the reverse face, that created a balanced and refined look on every side. Not to mention that a TV can rise out at the push of a button!

This was a very unique and exciting project for us that turned out stunning, check out more about this cabinet, and our other projects, on our new website, www.eisenwood.com!
