It doesn’t look like much right now, but in a few weeks this will be one fancy fireplace!

So much more work goes into what is behind the walls vs what we see, and we tackled a lot of that this weekend!

Highlights:
- Cut out the rug 😳
- Built the base frames
- Installed both cabinets
- Painted the giant wall ( Duration Extra White, flat)
- Framed up the header for the soon-to-be barn door
- Set all the measurements for that fancy new fireplace insert!

Thanks to all of our supplies were delivered mid-week and saved us from a haul in the rain this weekend!

Well folks, we’ve got ourselves a PLAN!

I’ve spent two weeks thinking through and mapping out how to being a fireplace to life in the office/guest suite. After a trial run today with furniture borrowed from the man cave, we officially can start the shopping list!

Stay tuned over the next few weekends as the office becomes a total and complete mess before it is transformed into 3-purpose space.
1. Office with perfect L-Shaped desk in the corner
2. Sitting room with cozy fireplace
3. Full-Blown guest suite with a full-sized bed and plenty of storage

The storage room is DONE!!

I am genuinely shocked with how much more room I have now. I also have an awesome little workshop space.

Our faves from this project:
- because we were there 27 times!
- for the custom hue (Succulent @ 50%)
- because cabinets cannot be made without them!

- because, we’ll, look at the wall
- for being the best SIL and DIY buddy ever

The storage room is SO CLOSE to being done. Now we get to focus on all of the details.

- Seal the floor
- Install lights under the upper shelf
- Organize the boards
- Load up the storage shelves

This room has been so much fun to design and build. I can’t wait to wrap up the finishing touches.

The storage room came to life this weekend!

We painted the cabinets, finished the edges of all of the shelves and dry fit them, hung the peg board, mounted the overhead shelf brackets, and purchased the rest of the supplies needed to call this project DONE.

Next weekend we should be able to land the finishing touches and call this room DONE!

- cordless hammer drill and multi-tool
- circular saw jig
- because we’ve been there twice in 3 days 🤪

It has been a whirlwind of a weekend, but the cabinets for our storage room are built, installed, and primed!
bertges and I spent all day Saturday assembling and installing cabinet boxes. Huge shout out to for ripping the plywood sheets to size for us.

Everything from here is MUCH easier. Although our to-do list is still pretty long.

Here are some of our favorites for this project so far:
- pocket hole jig and circular saw jig
- cordless tools, especially the hammer drill and multi-tool
- bonding primer
- Emerald Urethane (Succulent in 50%)

It's been another busy week for TDC!

Last weekend we tore down this cluttered and outdated storage space in preparation for a one of a kind remodel to hold all of our supplies.

If you followed our stories you've seen the progress, if you haven't here's the skinny...

We've officially got a clean slate for our next major project!

For those who have been following our stories you know how this room started. For those who haven't.....you've missed all the fun and an obnoxious number of paint cans🤣

With the wire shelving and all of our supplies out of the way we can really dig into the design of the space and get our true measurements.

HERE'S THE MOST FUN PART .... WE WANT YOUR INPUT ALONG THE WAY! As always, we will document our progress, but we will have our followers voting on function, color choices and more!
