Kissed by the sun!

This is a 3D printed model for a prototype home designed on the Southside Slopes. Our Fisher ARCHitecture Roanoke is designed to be a live-work building, with the two portions of the project – a 1,600sf home above and an earthbound office below – connected via an elevator and also an exterior ramp. Together with our engineering team, we devised the structural strategy that resulted in the triangular shape of the primary structure. This solution would allow building foundations more cheaply on a very steep site, with limited access from heavy machinery.

There is a lot of explorations around the facade! You can learn more about the project here: https://fisherarch.com/portfolio/neuroarchitecture/

Outdoor fireplace: check!

Get the patio season started πŸ˜€ The two fireplaces of this house are in one vertical concrete block that has two units: one facing inside and the other facing outside. We can’t wait for the outdoor paving to be done and ready for a great party.

Progress from New Bethlehem: A post-and-beam home telescopes across an open meadow. The project is located in an open meadow at the top of a hill near the town of New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, a small town located a bit more than an hour north of Pittsburgh.
Our objective was to design a progressive, contemporary design while using traditional barn-house construction methods.

Reason no. 19,524 to have a green roof: Allium!

AKA chives, allium is a large genus of over 850–1,000 species of herbaceous perennials in the Amaryllidaceae family, including onions, garlic, leeks, and chives, alongside many ornamental varieties. We have lots of small purple allium and one giant white allium. This year they bloomed at least two weeks ahead of schedule. Warming weather has definitely impacted our area too.
6 inches of soil is all it takes to have a great green roof! Ask us how you can have it too πŸ™‚
