From an aged and etched marble to better than new! All in about 3 hours!

This beautiful marble double bowl vanity was a dream to work on. Anytime I have to deck polish a stone I take the type of stone into consideration. Marble is such a soft and easy stone to work on that I often dramatically discount my light resto-polishing on marble.

These pictures show a bit, but don’t do justice to how well this vanity turned out upon completion.

Plus with all my resto-polishing jobs a free commercial quality sealing treatment is always included at no extra charge! So this marble is now protected and basically better than it was when it was first installed!

My only disclaimer is that since marble is so soft that this type of resto-polish may be needed every 3-5 years depending on care and maintenance. While marble is a beautiful stone is also what I would consider problematically soft. That softness plays a large part in the stones susceptibility to etching and patina, but it’s always easy to polish up like new!

These engineered stone, or Quartz, repairs are always a love/hate relationship for me. I’ve figured out the color matching pretty well, but trying to get a Quartz type snakeskin texture on a polished repair is the tough part. My perfectionist ways can sometimes get the best of me, but I guess that’s a good problem to have.

Chip repairs are straight forward, but require a lot of artistry and time to perfect. I learn more with every rare chip repair that I purposely pop back out and start over on because I was unhappy with the outcome.

I think I hit this one on the head though.

As usual I forgot my initial “before” picture. You’d think after all these jobs I’d do better with remembering that, but honestly I’m always so excited to get started that before I know it it’s too late. I guess that’s a good problem to have. There was no way I was setting this monster cast iron sink back in place to get that before pic. Easily the heaviest cast iron sink I’ve ever dealt with… or I’m getting older. So it’s gotta be the heaviest for sure. Lol


From the old heavy, outdated and worn drop in to brand new, and waaay lighter, drop in. With the coolest “hexclad” type anti scratch build I’ve seen to date. All in about 3 hours and ready to have a plumber hook everything up. Plus…

Quite the interesting design. It worked well with the old built in oven, but the new built in was contacting the stone and wouldn’t allow the door to open or close. After cutting off the bump outs and then beveling and polishing to match the existing edges everything clears as it should.
