This proposed Catholic church sanctuary mural depicts Christ crucified above the tabernacle, with the Holy Spirit above Him. Beams of light descend toward the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. John the Apostle as they gaze up at Christ beneath a star-filled sky. The placement of the Crucified Christ emphasizes the connection between His sacrifice on Calvary and the Eucharist, in which Christ gives Himself to the faithful as the source of our redemption. Mary and St. John bear witness to His Passion, while the descending light draws the eye toward Christ, the source of our salvation and the promise of eternal life.

A closer look at a proposed custom Nativity mural in development for a client. The shepherd among his flock of sheep, the young drummer boy, and the expressive faces and intricate details of the figures capture the wonder of Christ’s birth. The exceptional skill of Catholic artists, guided by their understanding of the faith, conveys both the human emotion and divine significance of the Nativity. Through their artistry, the mural becomes a joyful proclamation of the mystery of the Incarnation, celebrating the truth of God made man and the profound love at the heart of this holy event.

A new vision for a Catholic church in Tennessee is taking shape. Rohn & Associates Design is working with diocesan leadership to develop options for a custom Nativity mural behind the tabernacle.

Our artist is painstakingly refining the details of the proposed mural, paying close attention to the faces and expressions of the Nativity figures, the Christ Child, and the traditional animals, along with the angels beneath a star-filled sky. God the Father and the Holy Spirit appear above the crucifix and tabernacle. The artwork is being developed specifically for the church, with careful attention to its placement. The Nativity recalls the birth of Christ, whose presence in the Eucharist is at the heart of Catholic worship, making this imagery especially meaningful behind the tabernacle.

Catholic schools play an important role in forming young people in faith. Sacred art can help students connect with the saints, see examples of courage and compassion, and relate the teachings of the Church to their own lives.

For the Dunlap Family Blessed Sacrament Chapel at Seton LaSalle Catholic High School in Pittsburgh, we developed concepts for stained glass windows depicting saints selected by the school community and Stations of the Cross with youthful portrayals intended to resonate with students. The approachable imagery gives students figures they can identify with, helping bring the saints and the events of Christ’s Passion closer to their everyday lives.

Sacred art in a Catholic hospital chapel can offer comfort and hope to those facing illness. For Our Lady of Divine Hope Chapel at St. Vincent Hospital’s oncology center, we created paintings of the Blessed Mother with the Child Jesus and St. Peregrine, patron saint of those with cancer, as well as a hand-carved bas-relief of Our Lady of Sorrows finished in 23-karat gold leaf. Each reflects a distinct aspect of Catholic devotion: Mary’s maternal love, the intercession of St. Peregrine, and Mary’s closeness to those who suffer.

We designed the custom altar, ambo, tabernacle and stand, sanctuary mural, and dome artwork at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Visalia, CA, to unite its four parish communities in worship and teach the Catholic faith through sacred art and custom liturgical furnishings. These works draw the congregation’s attention to the altar and the Blessed Sacrament while illustrating the central mysteries of Catholic belief.

At the heart of the sanctuary, the hand-carved Holy Trinity crucifix depicts God the Father holding the crucified Christ, with the Holy Spirit extending toward the celestial dome of the Four Evangelists. The retablo mural features saints, angels, and biblical scenes, placing the Trinity within the broader story of salvation and expressing the Paschal Mystery of Christ’s Passion, Death, and Resurrection. Together, these works reflect the faith and traditions of the San Joaquin Valley community.

Our work at Saint Joseph Basilica in Webster, MA, included custom sacred art, church murals, decorative painting, and historic art restoration. This mural depicts Our Lady of Częstochowa, the Black Madonna of Poland, holding the Christ Child, flanked by angels and appearing above the saints of Poland. The scene honors Poland’s beloved Marian devotion and the Polish Catholic heritage preserved at this historic basilica.
