Crafton Community Farm

Crafton Community Farm There is a community garden in Crafton Park. Please help us spread the word to Crafton neighbors. Come learn about the garden with seasoned volunteers!

Vision/mission:

A real, simple garden that welcomes everyone, responsibly grows, generously gives, and endlessly educates. Open Gardening hours: Tuesday afternoons, Thursday mornings, and Sunday mornings, and by appointment. Usually we are there watering and weeding on weekday mornings. The harvests are shared with volunteers and the local food pantry. We welcome all interested community members

to participate. Do you have any special skills, ideas, or resources you can share with us? Please comment here or message us at [email protected].

So grateful to the hard working volunteers who came out to prep garden beds on this pretty spring morning. Check out the giant piles of compost and wood chips, courtesy of our supportive friends at Crafton Public Works! Our November planted garlic is nice and tall, tucked in with some straw and leaves for mulch. And we already had our first harvest of 2026-american groundnut tubers!

Some of the fruits of our labor in 2025. We grew luffa gourds and picked them off the vines before the first hard frost. Then volunteers dried them at home and then peeled the skin off, shook and scraped the seeds, and cut the luffa sponge/scrubber into pieces to clean skin and dishes.

Starting around the end of August, many people ask us if the garden is "done for the year." This year especially, the answer is "not even close!" We have a few volunteers who are enthusiastic planters of seeds, and have kept the garden awash with new and beautiful life so that we will probably not be done with our 10th growing season until the ground freezes solid! There are still so many delicious, fresh foods to harvest!
We also have a lot of work to do to get the garden ready for next year, including spreading compost, planting cover crops, and planting our 2026 garlic. Why not join us as we enjoy some lively Fall outside time? We will be working next Saturday from about 10am to 12pm.
