A customer commented yesterday that her artichokes “looked horrible” right now. We assured her that they should! After your artichokes produce fruit in the spring and the heat of summer begins, your artichokes want to go into dormancy. It is recommended to cut them back to 1 inch above the ground and do not water for a month or so. This prepares the plant for a healthy rebound in the fall, and a possible second harvest. Resume watering in late summer, this will encourage new growth or “pups“ to emerge. If you are in an area that receives heavy frosts, keep your plant mulched until danger of frost has ended. Your artichokes should come back bigger and better next spring! For more reading on growing artichokes, click the link in our stories! 📸: Meadow team member Janna Olson Weiss

🍅 Tomato season is here… apparently 😏

We just got a beautiful shipment of tomatoes in, and yes… it does feel a little early. But hey—if the big box stores are putting them out already, we figured we better keep up with our corporate competitors 😉

That said… let’s be honest:
Planting tomatoes right now is a bit of a gamble.

Will they thrive?
Will we get another cold snap?
Are we all just being overly optimistic?

Maybe all of the above 😂

But if you’re feeling brave (or just excited for summer like we are), come grab some and take your chances. We’ve got some really healthy, happy starts ready to go 🌱

And as always—thank you for supporting local. It truly means everything to us 🤍
