It's been awhile since I posted anything here. I had a 15 month hiatus that took me to the east coast, but I'm back working in my shop. I'm currently building a walnut tabletop for a customer. I'll post pics when finished, but it is going to be a very heavy table. Glad I won't have to move it once it's done.

I've also been working on cutting boards and trivets. It is fun to be creative. Here are some of the boards. The angled boards are a lot of work and take an extra glue up so the time factor doubles. They are also end-grain boards, so I have to use my CNC machine to plane them. I also make trivets although they are not as decorative. They are patterned, however. I'll post a couple of those for you to view as well. Needless to say, I'm having a lot of fun. Let me know what you think.

A friend who works with me on CNC projects, brought a friend in with a slab of walnut and asked if I could carve something for him. We decided on the silhouette of the elk and bear. He wondered if we could also include a salmon with the bear, so with a little magic, we did just that. This same friend then took the carvings and finished them. They turned out absolutely beautiful! These are only 2D cuts, so I got a slab for myself and am going to try a 3D scene. Let you all know how that turns out.

Welcome to Grandma's Wooden Box! I'm so excited to launch this page and get going. I have been building things for several years while working at BATC, but since I've retired, I've had the chance to work more on my own and head in a different direction. Check out some of the new things I did for someone at Christmas. They turned out beautifull. Let me know what you think.
