Little back yard silver maple action. Some heavy rigging with this one but all hands were on ropes so no video yet. I’ve gotta get better at working this Go Pro camera.

Not the best pictures, but this is what we’re working on. I’ve got a helmet cam now too, working on editing and getting good video. It’s fun but time consuming and I’m usually just focused on the job. I’ve gotta get better at taking my time and doing some of the little things.

This a great example of a pruning cut that struggled to heal, and caused a cavity of decay, weakening the limb overall. The larger the cut, the harder it is to seal it of for the tree, that’s why we try to encourage proper pruning every 2-3 years. Don’t forget to look up! (Arborist might have cut a bit too close to the Cambrium on this one as well.).

TWISTED Water tupelo (Nyssa aquatica) tree located in Yauhannah Lake in the Waccamaw National Widlife Refuge in South Carolina! I’ve seen spiral growth on many different tree species. The exact cause may be a mystery but genetics, uneven canopy distribution and winds can play a role. Perhaps some type of physiological stress could trigger it, and growth hormones could affect it. Good to be back home and back working. Nice little River Birch with a bad crack in one of the larger unions, but it’s out over the street and gave it a good weight reduction. See what she does in the spring.
