Welcome to the garden grapevine beetle! Had never seen this guy around northern Indiana before and was a little surprised to see it. It's about the size of the end of my thumb and probably 4-5 times the size of a Japanese beetle. Don't worry, no harm came to this magnificent bug. I was simply trying to get the Japanese beetles off my grape vine when it was found.

The more you know.

What a wonderful day in the garden! Harvested onions, checked up on our grapes and saw a miracle! I thought the large grape vine I harvested in February was dead, but today I noticed a new leader coming up from its base! How amazing is that!?

I found several plants that were volunteers this year in my garden and next to my raised bed gardens, but I thought I saw all of them until tonight. So here's the break down of all the volunteers: Dill w**d, Tomatoes, Cilantro, and lettuce! I found the lettuce plant outside of my raised bed.

After a few years of using the no-till method in my raised beds, I am starting to see the wonderful benefits of it. The soil around my raised beds is so healthy that it can grow and maintain garden plants all on its own. I am very much looking forward to my harvest next year if I'm having these results this year.

What's growing buddy?

So far in the garden this year: Potatoes, asparagus, strawberry, raspberry, blueberry, grapes, rhubarb, onions, cilantro, lavender, and walnut trees.

Silly squirrels buried a few walnut seeds in the raised beds during the winter apparently. 🀣

As spring continues to bring blessings, the biggest one thus far is my rhubarb coming to life! It struggled last year, but I am hopeful this year will bring a small harvest. Just enough to make a rhubarb crisp pie. 😁

Got out and got my hands dirty today! New additions to the garden are asparagus, blueberry and onions. So excited to see how everything grows. Also collected and transplanted an old wild grape vine for the trellis. What are you doing in the garden today? 🌱🌻🌺🌼

Recently checked the gardens to see how they look after the first hard freeze of the year. I couldn't hardly believe my eyes when I saw a thriving fungal community. From what I could find, they are edible mushrooms, but not very tasty. Don't worry, I'll skip unless they are morel mushrooms.
