This weekend we move our clocks forward. This weekend is also the weekend that everyone needs to check their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and replace the batteries. The life of a smoke detector is about 10 years, a carbon monoxide detector needs to be replaced every 5 to 7 years. Smoke detectors need to be in every bedroom, outside of sleeping areas, on every level of the home. Start off the new year by updating your door handles with a new color and style. Door handles take a lot of abuse, they get scratched, dented and just wear out over time. Replacing your handles can add a nice accent to your home and give it an updated look. You can go from and old round brass door k**b to a new oil rubbed bronze lever handle.
