Summer task...greenhouse sanitizing. Giving your vegetable and herb plants a clean and healthy environment. . . . A list of many summer tasks includes sanitizing the greenhouse interior ceiling, racks, walkways, recycled pots, & trays. Scrub brushes, washing, rinse, including the interior ceiling, sides, surfaces inside greenhouse horticultural hydrogen peroxide. Why the ceiling is important is due to condensation that drips from the ceiling onto the plants which can cause diseases, bacteria, dead Insect debris on seedlings on racks catching the dripping morning condensation. Algae buildup can also block sunlight. !

Update on bare root strawberry order ...back in May, around the 10th, I called my wholesale plant broker in Tampa to order early as I typically do to beat the June 15 deadline. Shockingly, All were sold out, but I could be put on a "wait" list for a choice of 4 or 5 varieties that were not Florida friendly...... PLUS At a fee: If I wanted to order my usual 1500+, there would be a contractors fee which doubled the usual price PLUS added on was trademark fee of $15.00 per 500. Plus shipping which with gas prices I was told was 25% higher. So, no bareroot strawberry plants for me this October. I am sorry to disappoint those of you who are on my strawberry list.

Harvesting Armenian Tigger melon. Sweet taste like a cross between a pear and honeydew melon. Set next to store bought pineapple for size reference. Found several more forming on the vine. Interesting fact: some people do not care for the taste of this, instead its fragrance is enjoyed not only in perfumes, but a whole melon is often left uncut, set in a prominent location in a room where a fan or open window breeze carries the fragrance throughout the room.

Summer gardening projects include buying seeds. I had posted back in May about sticking with retailers you know, but even major retailers have wrong seeds in packets happening frequently, not just small online retailers on Amazon, Etsy, etc.. Buying what you think are cukes but raising squash, sweet peppers are actually hots, marigolds turn out to be zinnias and so on... I came across this post this morning. So I say to you....while very disappointing as we spend so much time creating lists and orders, I say enjoy our surprises!!! And yes, it took me probably 30 yrs to finally find peace in these errors!
