✨Care Tips✨
🌺 Eclipse BigLeaf Hydrangea🌺
🌺 Thrives in dappled shade or partial sun. It can withstand more sunlight if you live in the Midwest or North, but afternoon shade is necessary to keep the leaves from burning in intense heat.
🌺 Rich, well-draining, slightly acidic (pH 5.5 to 6.0) soil is preferred. If the soil in your area is heavy clay, add compost.
🌺 Particularly during the first two years, keep the soil uniformly moist like a wrung-out sponge. To prevent fungal problems, water the plant's base.
🌺 Due to its Bigleaf genetic makeup, the shrub needs special attention to withstand severe, freezing winters. Arrange mulch, leaves, or pine needles in a mound around the plant's base.As an alternative, encircle the shrub with a cage made of chicken wire and insulate it with dry leaves.
🌺 Both new and aged wood are suitable for eclipse blooming. To promote new growth, give it a "light haircut" just after the first flush of summer blooms. If you cut it to the ground in late winter, you will cut off the buds for spring.
