Just finishing up an addition to a Master Bedroom and Bathroom. Added about 10'x22' to add a Sitting Area and triple the size of the Bathroom. Very nice folks. I worked with them on their kitchen about 25 years ago. Nice of them to call me back.

Burden Building Company has been in the Kitchen/Bathroom design and remodeling business for quite some time. I enjoy taking an older looking home and turning it into a work of art. I realize that it is a significant investment that some people either can't afford or justify for whatever reason.

I have had a number of people in the past ask me about repainting cabinets for a fresh, new look. I have seen jobs that people have had done that look much less than professional.

For that reason, I have invested in a top of the line paint refinishing system. The manufacturer's representative came out to my shop and trained me on how to get the best results with the system. In a previous life, I did a little automotive painting on restored cars. This system is a little easier to use, but the process is similar.

So now Burden Building Company can offer kitchen cabinet repainting services to our customers with the confidence that you will receive a professional appearance at a greatly reduced investment.

I built this rock sculpture-water feature, using a product called GFRC (glass fiber reinforced concrete). I weld a metal skeleton to the shape I want and apply a concrete outer coating. GFRC is very strong. Once installed, it can add tand without the skeleton.
Very versatile product. As you can see, I am able to achieve a dramatic cantilever that appears to defy gravity. YOU CANNOT DO THIS WITH NATURAL STONE.
Size and shape is only limited with imagination. This is the stuff you see at major theme parks and Vegas hotels.
You can walk right up and touch it and it feels like rock.
Great for pools when you want a dramatic "overhang" effect. I can install built in lighting.
This stuff is very cool.

A wonderful lady in Hampton, who is a friend of another client, called me to help her redesign and renovate her bathroom. It was the only one in the house and she wanted it to be special. We did not have much room to work with. She was looking for something modern and wanted it to appear as spacious as possible. I put a floor heating system in this one also.
Considering what we had to work with, it turned out pretty nice and she is quite happy with the final result.

Here is a new product Burden Building Company is involved in. I just completed a detached garage on the water in Norfolk. Had to work through wetlands issues, in particular the access from the existing driveway to the garage. Wetlands requirements would not allow concrete, and getting a stone base approved was also difficult.
This project worked out well. it is a heavy duty fiber plastic mat that supports vehicles without "rutting up" the ground, allows rain to permeate the surface and allows grass to grow through. After a few months, you will only see the grass. It can be mowed like the rest of the property.
An invisible driveway. Pretty impressive stuff. And the city officials loved it.

Finished the tile work on another shower. This one was in Newport News. Tried to get a little "vintage" mosiac design, but not be overwhelming. They liked the idea of a stone floor. It was looking a bit too "white" so I found a granite which complimented the stone for the seat and curb. It turned out OK and the Homeowners are happy. That's always the goal.
Custom glass enclosure has been measured and ordered. Just about wrapped up.
We do our own tile work, so we can take a little time to get the intricate design stuff just the way we want it. I don't think we save any money over a subcontractor, but it typically turns out pretty spot on.
