This week we were called to fix another company’s spray foam job… 🙁
Sadly, this isn’t the first call we’ve received where people spent their hard-earned money on insulation that was NOT what they were promised.
Spray Foam costs can be a major investment, so we’ve decided to share some educational posts & tips to help our community know what to look for before hiring a spray foam company.
First up… Let’s talk METAL BUILDINGS
For metal buildings in Florida, CLOSED CELL is typically the best choice because it:
✔️ Creates a moisture barrier (minimum of 2”)
✔️ Helps prevent rust & corrosion
✔️ Has a higher R-value for better efficiency
✔️ Adds strength & durability
✔️ Is designed for metal surfaces
Open Cell is great for many applications, but it does NOT create a moisture barrier, so using the wrong foam can trap moisture on metal and lead to condensation, mold, rust, and major long-term issues.
Before hiring a company, ask:
• Is this CLOSED CELL or OPEN CELL?
• How many inches are being installed?
• What R-value does that provide?
• Do they have photos of past projects?
• Do they have experience with metal buildings?
The cheapest quote is not always the best investment when it comes to spray foam.
It’s always a good idea to get multiple estimates, so if you receive a quote, whether it’s from us or someone else, we are always happy to answer questions and help educate our community when it comes to insulation.
