G L A S S H O U S E S C O N S E R V A T O R Y • Diatomaceous earth (residue on monstera as you see here for example of powder residue left behind after my routine treatment) is a natural, chalk-like powder made from the fossilized remains of tiny aquatic organisms called diatoms. Composed mostly of silica, it works mechanically by absorbing lipids from the exoskeletons of crawling insects—like fleas and ants—causing them to dehydrate and die. Excellent for treating indoor and outdoor crawling pests, including bed bugs, ticks, silverfish, and roaches. Insects cannot build an immunity to it, and it does not leave harsh chemical residues. • Helps deter soft-bodied garden pests like slugs, aphids, and beetles without harming the plants themselves for added ease of mind.
