We recently completed a project where we replaced outdated door and window casings as well as baseboards. It was a fun change of pace to do something other than flooring and tile work. I'm happy to add some trim work to my portfolio. All of the trim was handmade, using 4x8 3/4 inch MDF sheets. 💯

Started tearing out a Luxury Vinyl Plank floor today. Installed without a v***r barrier. Im not the original Installer on this one.

To be honest, they advertised the stuff 100% waterproof back in the day, no moisture barrier requirements in the instructions. It kills me to think how many of my LVP installs are failing now. LVP is waterproof from top down, not from the bottom.

It’s been a few years now that I have install them over a v***r barrier, 6 mil poly sheeting (plastic). Even if the installation instructions don’t specify, I don’t Install directly over concrete anymore.

Its a product failure when they advertise it as 100% waterproof, box states to install directly over concrete, then fails from moisture from the bottom.

Its the Installers fault if the product is installed over concrete when every box specifies that a moisture barreir is needed.

If this is happening to you and you have a left over box, or know your product Info, verify that it has been installed with a v***r barrier. Contact the manufacturer if it is not specified in the install instructions. Manufacturer warranty may help keep you and your family safe from mold and mildew spores.

Either way, I’ve been home for 3 hours, even after a shower, I still smell the mold and mildew.
