As the summer winds to a close, I find myself reflecting back on the last two years as MIDA’s President with joy and gratitude 🤍

Two years have flown by and I can’t thank the local Maine design community enough for the continued active participation, encouragement, and support for MIDA’s values, goals, and programming. The Maine Interior Design Association remains focused and dedicated to advocating for Certified Interior Designers within the state and so many of your help make that possible.

And our educational, professional development, and fundraising events aren’t so shabby either :)

Thank you MIDA board of directors in particular for trusting me with the last two years of leadership, for the opportunities to represent the community, and for the enthusiasm & support behind the scenes making everything happen.

I am more than excited to see Renée Bissonnette, NCIDQ, CID take the helm next! MIDA continues to be one of my favorite parts of the Maine Design community and I look forward to continuing to serve on the board for as long as I can 🦞.

Luxury isn’t just what you see - it’s also what you DON’T see.

Cheap, glarey downlights? Never. For a quiet, refined elegance we utilize discrete, regressed, and hidden light sources every time.

Intentional lighting design is one of the highest-ROI decisions you can make in a high-end project. Here’s why:

• Increase property value
Well-designed lighting elevates materials, architecture, and art. It makes spaces photograph better, feel more expansive, and read as “considered.” Buyers may not name the lighting, but they absolutely feel the difference, and it shows in perceived value.

• Avoid costly mistakes
Poorly placed fixtures, wrong beam spreads, glare, or under-lit spaces often require expensive rework—sometimes after finishes are installed. A lighting designer resolves these decisions early, when changes are inexpensive and coordination is clean.
