It’s our 6 year anniversary! What a crazy 6 years it has been! Some of you remember our tiny first space when it was just us! You’d often just see me and my boys. That first summer was a hot one! Baby Reed was often sweaty and strapped to the front of me while I potted your plants! Mason and Roan often joined me after preschool and kindergarten. We have pushed through a global pandemic, lots of pivoting business plans and now an uncertain and funky economy but here we are 6 years later still smiling with our hands dirty! The boys are all a lot taller (Mason is 4inches taller than I am!), more resilient and we are all more grateful than ever for this wonderful community. We are truly thankful for all of the wonderful plant stories you have shared with us, all of the fun events we have had together, each and every sale and every word of encouragement you have ever given us over the years! Green thumbs grow in our family tree.

Gurton's is a friendly neighborhood houseplant shop founded and curated by Julina Abbott.

For as far back as we can tell, our family has been blessed with uncannily green thumbs—from great-great-great (great!) grandpa Henry Gurton the royal florist, to his son Ted the dapper backyard rose gardener.

Then there's great-great grandpa Jack, a nursery owner and propagator of rare flower specimens, and don't forget Marjorie—Julina's grandma, whose yard is overgrown with monster succulents we'd give our left arm for.

Today, with three little dudes who love to lend a hand in the garden and at the shop, we’re happy to say Gurton’s Plant Shop is backed by 7 generations of green thumbs—and we’re here to help you nurture yours.
