The needles are 1-2 inches long in bundles of two, and have a bright medium green color. In winter, the needles turn a golden yellow, giving this bonsai its name. This bonsai is hardy to Zone 2, and likes loose, organic, moist soil. It is a slow-growing and compact evergreen that can be easily pruned in spring by clipping back the new growth. Just potted up this super old Azalea, captured from a friend's yard which needed to move due to a construction project. I have 4 more just like it. All are in a high quality ceramic pot and stand about 30" tall. These are going to take time, but will make a sweet bonsai for sale in the future after more branches fill in over the next few years.
