Over the past few months, we have worked with Winnacunnet High School’s ELO program to help guide these students through an architectural project, with Michaela Maloney as their mentor. Hayren and Jana designed a single family home on a site in Rye, NH, and wanted to create a building that blended their favorite architectural styles with New England architecture. They researched the necessary materiality for the location, the implications of coastal flooding and how to mitigate the issue, as well as landscaping and what native plants they could include in their design. This ELO came after the ACE program at Winnacunnet, and they were able to utilize all their knowledge to create this great project! We are excited to continue to work with students at Winnacunnet who are interested in Architecture.

Due to several reasons ranging from code compliance to building settling, all of the existing floors were reframing and the existing roof framing has been removed to be reframing. All of which is being done to provide adequate structural support, larger insulation cavities, and higher sound transmission coefficient ratings to list a few reasons.

One example of this is the outdoor classroom which was an integral design feature that utilized the sites natural grade and building form to create a unique terraced auditorium that is multifunctional.

This project of ours recently was subjected to a fire where it changed ownership hands and the scope of work increased to a full interior gut to bring the building up to modern living standards and code!
