Salvaging a centuries-old Canadian timber frame barn and rebuilding it in Portsmouth, RI required total respect for the material. We preserved hand-hewn support beams and structural posts throughout the layout, anchoring the new kitchen and framing the open living spaces.

By engineering a modern climate-controlled building envelope around the reclaimed frame, we gave this historic timber structure a brand new chapter. The result is a good balance of preservation and modern luxury living.

We paired bright white upper and lower cabinetry with dark perimeter countertops and a thick, light-colored stone top on the navy island.
