TO BELINDA AND ANYONE ELSE WHO WANTS TO KNOW HOW TO LOOK AFTER A DENDROBIUM ORCHID PROPERLY.

The easiest way is to let me have your email address so I can email you a help sheet. Just drop me an email asking for one [email protected]

Here'e the basics to get you started.

Dendrobiums are cool growing orchids originating from near Japan
10 degrees minimum (winter)
22 degrees maximum (summer

Never use tap water, orchids hate hard tap water. use either rain water, bottled water or the easiest way boiled water that has cooled to room temperature (when you make a cuppa just pour out a cup of water for your orchid)

Denrobiums are seasonal and will only flower once a year usually in spring.
They will need 2 different types of food
Use a specialist orchid food that has high levels of nitrogen to feed leaves and roots until October start this food when the flowers have died.
From October Use a specialist food orchid food high in phosphorus and potassium to encourage flowering in spring

The best quality food is very expensive so I do sell ready to use food at 75p for 500ml + postage (the postage might be a bit expensive though if you don't live near Portsmouth

Water your dendrobium 30 - 50 ml once a week and feed it once a month.

Your dendrobium will need to be misted, flushed and rested in the winter. Email me for help on all this.

Hope this helps a little bit

DON'T LET YOUR ORCHIDS GET SUNBURNT THIS SUMMER.

If your orchid is on a South facing window sill make sure you have a net curtain on that window. Also for west facing windows where the sun is hottest in the afternoon. If you don't have a net curtain up, then just move it off the windowsill during the day but make sure it still gets plenty of indirect sunlight.
