With the incoming heat wave we wanted to give you a few tips on keeping your house cool if your A/C cannot seem to keep up in this heat! Let’s face it; it’s not always your A/C units fault if it cannot keep up with such high temperatures and humidity! If your AC unit does fail you, here are some tips to keep your house as cool as possible until we can get to you! We have already had several people reaching out to schedule appointments for tomorrow!
✅ 10 Tips for Keeping Your House Cool During a Heatwave:
1️⃣ Close your blinds and curtains in the early morning hours until the late evening.
2️⃣ Avoid using your oven! Make sure you have meal options that do not require oven use (sandwiches,chicken salad ect.) Now’s the time to fire up that grill.
3️⃣ Unplug electronics 💻 that you do not use regularly. Desktop computers can emit a lot of heat.
4️⃣ Keep your lights out💡!! Even energy efficient lights can emit heat.
5️⃣ Set your ceiling fans to summer mode!! A lot of people have no idea what the little switch on the base of your ceiling fans are for…Well there is a summer and winter mode! During the summer months your ceiling fan should blow forward in a counter-clockwise direction, forcing air down and making you feel cooler.
6️⃣ Block off rooms that you do not regularly use.
7️⃣ Use a dehumidifier! A dehumidifier helps remove excess moisture from the air, which leaves you feeling cooler even in hot temperatures.
8️⃣ Avoid opening your doors to go outside as much as possible.
9️⃣ Avoid using your washing machine and dryer during the day.
🔟 Turn Thermostat setting for your Fan to ON instead of AUTO for continued air circulation!
