The homeowner wanted to replace this 35 year old water heater in preparation for selling their home. This is definitely one of the top 3 oldest water heaters still in operation that we’ve seen in the wild. Built right down the street!

Anode rods are metal sticks of magnesium, aluminum or zinc that are important components of your tanked water heater system. The anode rod is made to attract the various items that corrode the inside of the water heater, thus sacrificing itself to prolong the life of the tank. These should be changed every 3-5 years. This picture shows side-by-side a brand new anode rod, and one that has been installed for around 5 years.
