This winter was a tough one for me, personally. While mountain biking with my son and his team last October up at Raystown Lake, I had a crash that lead to a broken thumb found initially. Then three months later, during an MRI, found that I had a completely separated RCL in same thumb. I did fulfill some of the scheduled work during the winter, but a lot wasn't possible with the limited use (or zero use) of my left hand. Surgery was successful in mid Feb, and I'm still going through PT twice a week. I'm really behind on my work schedule of jobs/tasks I was supposed to have completed by now. But…I'm extremely grateful to those that have told me to get better and the job will still be there waiting! ☺️I still have a few months to go with PT, and was able to get back to work about a month ago. My thumb is about 75% currently, and it will take maybe a full year to have full recovery. It was a long tough road to get to this point, had to resort to other means of income to supplement the loss of work. I'm happy to be back on the job site, for sure. It feels great to use my hands again, making dust and recreating spaces for my clients.
I'm still working through my scheduled list of jobs before I can schedule new work, so I am very sorry if I wasn't able to accommodate some that needed something prior. I predict I will be able to do new work possibly in the fall, or very small tasks in between other jobs.
I've been able to get back on the golf course, which is great for my mental health as well and my golf game. As well as doing very limited rides with my son.
Looking forward to having a great summer, I will be having my son, Gabriel, out there with me as he has time in between camps or other activities. It's going to be a great time doing that, sharing my work life with him.
I hope everyone is doing well as possible. Please have a great start to your summer season. Take time over this weekend to remember what this holiday is for. Those brave men and women that served and are not with their families any longer. We owe them more than a day of gratitude…they are the defenders of our great nation. Most stood up in the time of need to protect our way of life, and made the ultimate sacrifice during their time in service. If your loved ones did serve and no longer here, please accept my sincere gratitude to them for their selflessness to put on that uniform and stand up to those that want to do us harm. I am always in awe of that bravery they showed. I also served, but was fortunate to not have to seen any combat. It's very rewarding to stand and volunteer for public service and try to do your part in help keeping this nation free for us all. I was extremely honored to do that, and will forever be a huge supporter of our brave veterans and those that are currently serving.
