❄️🌲Essential Winter Tree Care Tips to Keep Your Trees Healthy & Safe-

Winter can be tough on trees- freezing temps, heavy snow, ice, wind, and dry conditions all take a toll.

Follow these pro tips to protect your trees and set them up for a strong spring.

1. Prune During Dormancy – Late winter is ideal for pruning most deciduous trees. Remove dead, damaged or crossing branches to improve structure and reduce storm breakage risk.

2. Protect Young or Thin-Barked Trees- Wrap trunks with tree guards or burlap to prevent sunscald (bark cracking from freeze- thaw cycles) and rodent damage.

3. Mulch the Root Zone – Apply 2-4 inches of mulch around the base (keep it away from the trunk) to insulate roots, retain moisture, and protect from temperature swings.

4. Water if Needed- In dry winters (little snow/rain), give evergreens and newly planted trees a deep soak on thaw days-roots can dry out even in cold weather.
