This was a fun feature project that we are very proud of. Objectives: start a second generation evergreen screening to replace the existing and ailing pines as they begin to phase out, construct a fire pit patio with a sitting wall, and add elements of visual interest along the poolside fence area.

This is a dry stack retaining wall that we installed. We set the foundation for the homeowners to plant away!

This is a large slab flagstone sidewalk that we installed last week. We lowered the grade of the sidewalk 8” from what was originally there in order to create positive grade around the foundation and alleviate possible water issues. A 24” french drain was also installed. Hopefully the weather will cooperate with us so that we can get back in and finish filling joints. The guys knocked it out of the park with this one!

A few projects that we have been working on...

Here is a fun project that we have been working on little by little for several years now. We installed a sizable drainage system, stone retaining walls, boulder accents, and have planted many large shrubs, evergreen trees, and perennials. The key to this project was strategically removing some existing mature plant material while leaving others in the landscape and adapting our plan to these specimens' locations so that the whole landscape, however young, has the appearance and feel of a mature landscape.

This week we began to develop the back portion of this property to create a new setting. We set Weathered limestone boulders and an array of understory shrubs that will begin to fill this area in. This project is a fun work in progress, so there is still more developments in the works.

We finished the week with a nice topdress of mulch to make the whole landscape pop!

This back yard is Complete! We raised the grade of the yard by about 1 1/2' to match the elevation of the pool deck, built an accent retaining wall at the corner, graded a drainage swale, set Norway Spruces and large Viburnum on the back fence row for strategic future screening, and the final finishing touch........sod!

Spring mulch jobs are fun because we get the chance to revisit and maintain projects from years prior. 2 years ago we built an accent limestone wall for balance and definition around an existing Whitebud tree, and replaced overgrown shrubs with a new boxwood hedge, itea, and Azaleas for spring color. The daffodils and vinca are in bloom now but it is a little early for the Azaleas just yet.
