When it comes to a HeatShield chimney relining system, the prep work is EVERYTHING.

Before we ever apply HeatShield, we perform a Clean & Etch process to properly prepare the flue surface — and this step is absolutely critical for a long-lasting repair.

🧱 Step 1: Thorough Cleaning
We remove all soot, creosote, and debris from the flue. HeatShield will NOT bond properly to a dirty surface.

🧪 Step 2: Clean & Etch Treatment
We apply a specialized cleaning agent that does two things:

Customer called us out because they kept smelling something… off. 🤢

We opened up the dryer vent and found the source —
a dead chipmunk 🐿️ and maggots inside the vent.

This wasn’t just bad luck. This was preventable.

The home had an inferior “T-top” style vent cap that allowed the animal to get inside… but not back out.
