Candy, Scout, Red Cabernet Onions puffing up with summer solstace in high gear.

Sweet Potatoes transplanted into a bed of fall sown Rye. crimped fall sown winter rye. Crimped the Rye in mid May and let the rye die back. Transplanted last years sprouted sweet potatoes directly into the beds. The soil is nice and fluffy under all that rye straw. This has worked great for me with Peppers and Tomatoes as well. 4th year running this method.

Pulled 2 rows of carrots out of this 25’ bed. I Got a little over 10lbs of carrots and left a row candy onions in the ground for a few more weeks. Planted some Jade bush beans down the middle of the bed. By the time they are maturing the onions will be pulled. The plan is to follow the beans with mustards and chinese cabbages.

Probably the last week of harvesting salads. single digits usually result in winter kill. bagged up as much as possible.

These days are really nice days to bring seedlings out and getting them acclimated to real sun and temp fluctuations. I bring them out at noon and in at sunset. A couple of weeks and will be transplanted out under fleece.
