Order Hostas and Daylilies Online All Year We are a Destination Garden Center, Arboretum, and Botanical Gardens attracting plant enthusiasts from across the Midwest. Our Garden Center is open April 10 to October 10 each year. We have a large selection of trees, shrubs, perennials,

natives, annuals, soil, mulch, pottery, statuary, fountains, garden supplies, giftware and garden decor. We are also a Polywood Authorized Distributor - the only one within 40 miles of Princeton, IL. Our inventory is located on our website at HornbakerGardens.com under "Plants and More" and we also Ship Hostas and Daylilies across the United States. We carry over 400 varieites each year, many of which are grown here on in our Hosta Fields. We serve the Illinois Valley and Bureau County areas, as well as traveling for consultations, deliveries, and installations- wherever our customers need us. We have customers from the Chicago suburbs, LaSalle/Peru, Ottawa, Streator, Bloomington, Peoria, Kewanee, Geneseo, the Quad Cities (even the Iowa side), Sterling/Rock Falls and Dixon. The Barn at Hornbaker Gardens is our All-Season event center, perfect for hosting wedding receptions, corporate meetings, community events, and more. It features a great room that seats up to 350, an outdoor ceremony site, Caterer's Kitchen, Bridal Suites, Covered Patio, Firepit, and use of our acreage and display gardens for photography. What to plant in June and why it matters! June is one of the best planting months in Illinois if you know what to reach for.
Annuals - Are you only planting annuals in your containers or are you utilizing the space in your garden beds to fill in with annuals too? They will fill in bold summer color where you need it.
Perennials - Plant them in June and they'll spend the rest to the season establishing roots, which means a spectacular show next year.
Daylilies - our collection is getting ready to show off. Plant a blooming daylily in June and enjoy it immediately AND for decades to come.
Ornamental Grasses - June planted grasses establish quickly and give you late summer and fall interest when other plants fade.

Who is ready for Open House?

Open House Weekend is here, and we're celebrating 40 years of gardening together with special savings, door prizes, and three days dedicated to the people who have made Hornbaker Gardens what it is today.

Bring a friend, stroll the gardens, explore what's new, and take advantage of some of our biggest specials of the season. The Hosta Ravine is thriving, summer color is arriving daily, and there's no better time to visit.

Something Big is Growing...
This weekend we are marking a milestone for Hornbaker Gardens. We're celebrating 40 years of Hornbaker Gardens alongside our annual Open House Weekend, June 12–14.

The garden center is full. The gardens are flourishing. Specials, door prizes, and some really fun 40 year swag will be available all three days. We have food trucks scheduled and a Worm Casting Workshop as well.

Whether you've been visiting for decades or this will be your first trip, we'd love to celebrate with you.

Plant Tip Thursday - Hot summer tip: water deeply and less frequently rather than a little bit every day. Deep watering encourages roots to grow down toward the moisture making plants more drought tolerant and resilient through the July and August heat.
