There’s something special about planting now for a garden you won’t see until spring. 🌷
Fall is the season for planting spring-blooming bulbs, and local nurseries should begin filling their shelves with favorites like tulips, daffodils, crocus and hyacinths. Depending on where you live, planting times can vary, so double-check your growing zone to find the best time to get your bulbs in the soil.
Once planted, bulbs spend the colder months developing below the surface before emerging with the first signs of spring.
Containers are always a joy to plant with bulbs, too. Layer different varieties for a succession of color, tuck them between seasonal plantings, or fill a favorite Haddonstone planter with bulbs for a beautiful spring display.
A little work in autumn, and something wonderful to look forward to all winter.
