Let’s face it - we’re designing for our four-legged clients too 🐶. Very happy to report that Reggie approves of this recently revamped sunroom. And while we love the way the sofa looks, we love its practicality just as much. We upholstered it in a Manuel Canovas performance fabric - a beautiful, hardworking choice that’s perfect for those days Reggie decides to take a dip in the pool, followed by an afternoon nap indoors. Beautiful, comfortable, and made for real life!
There’s a reason they call these the dog days of summer. 😂

A week (or maybe a few week) in review…
Every summer I think longer days will mean more time. Somehow, they never do.
Instead, the days full up quickly - with work I’m grateful for, places that inspire me, family, friends, and all the little moments in between that make the season so special.
I’m discovering that maybe it’s not about finding more time. It’s about making room for things that matter most. .

We’re getting there! Not only are the finishing touches getting done at the Norfolk Antique in time for my client to arrive from a cross country move at the end of the week, but we got power back, AND I get to pick up my computer from the shop today! 🤗 I don’t know which I’m most excited about. And to top it off, the sun came out. Happy Wednesday everyone.

Monday blues…😢💙
Feeling sad but so grateful for our little community. This July 4th weekend wasn’t exactly what we had planned for. While we were enjoying a gorgeous BBQ celebration with friends, an intense microburst tore through our little town. Incredibly, no one was seriously hurt, and most buildings were spared. But the storm left behind countless downed trees and power lines, knocking out electricity and essential services across our community.
We feel incredibly fortunate that our home was spared and we have a generator to keep the basics running. We know others aren’t in the same position, so we’ll continue to offer whatever we can - a bed, a hot shower, a meal, a chainsaw or simply a helping hand.
A huge thank you to the clean up crews working tirelesy, especially with more severe weather in the forecast. Thinking of everyone affected and hoping our community stays safe. 🙏

How I Fourth ❤️🤍💙.
Especially this year with record breaking temps and a historical celebration that feels like it’s been hijacked. I’m more than happy to have an excuse to stay indoors in the AC and watch Wimbledon with Roger.🤗 All I’m missing are the strawberries and champagne…but maybe those will make an appearance later, just in time for the Serena/ Venus match. 🥂🍓

It’s been just over a week since we returned from Casa Rosa, but somehow it already feels like a lifetime ago. I’m not complaining, I’m just cognizant of the passing of time and how quickly we can get swept up in life’s craziness without stopping to smell the flowers, literally! This trip ended up being more of a working retreat than a true holiday, but a change of scenery, a different language and a slower pace made all the difference. And if I’m honest, being able to escape the insanity that is taking over this country for a few weeks, was vacation in itself.
Since we’ve been back it’s been full steam ahead with client projects, while also trying to tame the jungle that’s taken over our garden, AND finding a way to make it to my USTA matches. Thankfully, the weather has been on our side, though I think we’re in for a hot one this coming week. I’m taking that as the perfect excuse to retreat indoors with the AC and catch up on Wimbledon matches in the evenings!

Peonies and pups have always been a favorite combo of mine. 💮🐶💮
We finally arrived home from Italy, and while our pups were beside themselves with excitement to see us again, our peonies were not nearly as thrilled. I was only able to scrounge a handful of fairly sad blooms which have now found a home on our bathroom shelves. So, although we seem to have missed this year’s season completely, at least I have the memories of years passed. One of my favorite being this one with our sweet Oakely who left us far, far too soon. Grateful for the memories and happy to be home.❤️ Happy weekend everyone.

This weekend the laptops were finally closed as we set off on a road trip to explore Tuscia, a corner of Italy we hadn’t yet discovered. I will admit, the impetus came from an apartment we had spotted online that piqued our interest, giving us the perfect excuse for a little adventure. Along the way we visited:
- Bomarzo - an enchanting little Etruscan town where we viewed the apartment. It was beautiful and light, with incredible views, and amazing cantina, and A LOT of stairs!
- Viterbo, the city of popes and home to one of Italy’s largest medieval districts, and surprisingly few tourists!
- Civita di Bagnoregio, the ‘dying city’ where an early start helped us beat both the heat and the crowds. We made it across the footbridge and racked up 29 flights on our step count tracker! I’m wondering too how may people have stood in exactly the same spot to take this photo?🤔
And then we wound our way through Val D’Orcia stopping at hill towns which honestly start blending into one another. We finally stumbled upon a sweet little agriturismo for a long, leisurely lunch before heading home.
So grateful for a weekend of unexpected discoveries, and the reminder that sometimes the best adventures begin with no plan at all ❤️.

I don’t like baking. I love cooking but the exactness that’s required in baking is too constraining for me. My daughter on the other hand loves following a recipe to a tee, so in our house I leave almost all of the baking to her - when she’s around. Unfortunately, she’s not here now and the early summer fruits are just too hard resist. This classic Marian Burros cake is totally up my ally! It’s forgiving, it takes literally 10 minutes to assemble, and it’s not too sweet. I literally make it on repeat throughout the summer. The original recipe is made with Italian plums, but really any stone fruit can be substituted (says the girl who doesn’t really bake). Honestly, it’s impossible to mess up - even of you’re trying to convert the imperial measurements into metric or working with very basic kitchen equipment. Will link recipe in stories.❤️.
We’re off to check out Viterbo and the surrounding area for the weekend. Let’s see what we see! Happy weekend 🙂. .

The husband and I both had a really busy work day today, but we managed to sneak away this morning for a little bit of 🤗. We’ve really been trying to exercise some restraint these last few trips as we honestly don’t need much for the house and more than anything I’m trying to keep it as minimal as possible. But of course there were a few little bargains we simply couldn’t leave behind.
I’m also realizing that whenever we’re in Italy, I find myself gravitating toward mid-century pieces. I think it’s because the architecture here is already so rich with character and texture that I don’t want the furnishings competing with it. Instead, I crave the contrast - the clean, simple lines provide a balance for me juxtaposed to the ancient details.
I thought I’d share a few pics of some of pieces that caught my eye as we were out and about. A couple of them came home with us, while the others were sadly left behind for someone else to discover. One of my favorite finds (for just 10 euros!), was the sweet little green lamp, which has already found its spot beside our chair in the lantern room. 💚
And then it was back to reality! I made it home just in time to hop on a Zoom call with clients back in CT to walk through initial concepts for their main living spaces. The real win? The internet held stready for the entire call!
