Have you checked your sump pump lately?
All of this rain puts a lot of additional water around your foundation. Checking your sump pump functionality and pit water levels regularly can save you from having an unwanted swimming pool in your basement. Also, adding a back up battery is a good idea to ensure you are protected in case your pump fails.

It's a good time to inspect your sump pumps with all of the heavy rain we are having. Also, make sure your storm drains are cleared and functioning properly and Make sure the drain hose is cleared.

• Check the pump and the switches to make sure they’re running smoothly.
• Clean out any debris that has entered the sump pump liner.
• Conduct a flood test to make sure the whole system is working properly. Pour some water into the pit to test the pump. It should start automatically and drain the water away quickly. If not, be sure to have it serviced.
