Spring break has officially arrived and let me just say we are seven snacks deep and somehow still ā€œthereā€™s nothing to eat.ā€Itā€™s Day ONE. Day. One.

The house is already 10 degrees hotter, someoneā€™s barefoot, someoneā€™s yelling about a charger that ā€œwas just here,ā€ and everybody suddenly has urgent plans to go in five different directions at the exact same time.

Meanwhile, Iā€™m over here doing Olympic-level scheduling:
Whoā€™s hungry again?
Who just ate?

Why are there crumbs in places that defy physics? And letā€™s not even talk about the grocery situation. I swear I just bought snacks yesterday and today it looks like weā€™ve been rationing since 2003. Spring break energy is wild:

Kids: ā€œIā€™m bored.ā€
Also kids: reject every single idea you suggest

You try to plan something fun, and suddenly youā€™re a full-time event coordinator, snack distributor, Uber driver, and referee all before noon.

BUTā€¦ hear me out. If youā€™re looking to survive, I mean enjoy spring break and switch it up a little from the chaos at home go visit The Stuffy Station located inside Frericks Coffee House in Quincy.

Grab yourself a coffee or loaded tea (becauseā€¦ obviously necessary), let the kids grab a treat, sit down, breathe for five seconds like a real human again, and let them build and dress their own stuffy.

Itā€™s fun, itā€™s different, it keeps their hands busy, and for a momentā€¦ just a momentā€¦ everyone is having a good time. And honestly? That alone might be worth the trip.

I want to clear something up about the way this story is being talked about. I donā€™t know if the people who hurt her were ever truly held accountable. What I do know is this. She carried severe trauma, and she had significant mental health struggles. When you combine those two things, thatā€™s not something most people can even begin to understand.

We all value life. I value life. I truly wish she would have found the kind of treatment that worked for her. I wish she would have found healing. She made a choice in the middle of pain that most of us will never fully grasp.

Whatā€™s bothering me is this. Why are we dissecting her decision? Here is the internet doing what the internet does. We make someones pain a spectacle for debate.

Why are we not putting the same energy into the reality of knowing that there are sexual predators walking around freely right now that have caused the same mental anguish on so many other innocent lives and they get to live carefree? I donā€™t care what title they hold, what position theyā€™re in, or how much money they make.
We know they have hurt others. Where is the outrage for that? Where is the accountability? Because until we start taking that seriously, until we stop protecting, excusing, or ignoring predators, stories like this arenā€™t going to stop.

Iā€™ll say this too. If something like this were legal in the United States, I think it would shock people to see how long the line would be. Because here, we call it death by su!cide. We donā€™t see the line. We donā€™t see the faces. We donā€™t see the scale. We just see numbers and people seem immune to those numbers.

But what if we did? Would we be more compassionate with each other? Would we check in more? Would we serve people better? Would we actually take mental health seriously? It breaks my heart to know there are people suffering to the point where they donā€™t truly want to die. They just want the pain to stop.

I will be 40 in a few short weeks! This sums it up! šŸ« šŸ« šŸ« šŸ«
