We have a wonderful climate, the best compromise of tropic and temperate. We can grow almost anything here. Provided we use the right variety, rootstock, and cultural practices.

I apologize for not responding to messages. I lost track of this page for a while. A dear friend help me set it up years ago. We recently reconnected and I can now start posting and updating. I should respond to messages more timely, but the quickest way to contact me is by text and phone calls, please leave a message because the farm is outside of cellphone coverage and offgrid. Thanks

Rootstocks are very important in citrus. Look for Swingle or Trifoliate Orange. Carrizo and Volkamer are no good here. Insist on knowing the rootstock.
Trifoliate Orange is a species, there are hybrids like Carrizo and Swingle which have trifoliate leaves, but this is not the same thing as a Trifoliate root. Carrizo is no good here. It is great in central florida or the immediate coast, but around here the trees usually freeze. Trifoliate is the best rootstock for heavy clay in this area. Swingle is better for sandy soil although it does well on clay if it is well drained. There are situations when Sour Orange or a mandarin root would be best, but usually swingle nd trifoliate are the best.
