🌹I got some knock out rose bushes - they were on sale at Lowe’s for $10! The blooms are so pretty.

🫐I also added a blackberry bush and a raspberry bush. I got these off of Facebook marketplace for $15.

🌱The real big discovery of the week though was the seed library I found. I highly recommend looking for a local seed library and plant trade. I joined a few of my local groups and it’s full of amazing people willing to trade seeds and plants. They’re dropping off their excess tubers for things like lilies and buttercups. I’ve seen houseplants, garden plants, pots, garden decor - so many things! I’ve picked up some amazing things for my garden from the local seed library. I added a cutting from a gardenia plant the original owner propagated. You can seed it in the little purple cup in photo #2. Shoutout to all of the seed libraries in the Raleigh area. Y’all are the MVP!

It’s my first basil harvest!!! These leaves came off of the plants from the grocery store basil I planted in the . My first harvest! I am so excited to be getting something back from the garden after a lot of hard work & waiting.

I planted a lot of bush beans in the terracotta original 5 tier greenstalk. I filled practically the whole tower with the exception of a few pockets. The bush beans are finally coming up and peaking over the side of the tower.

My black leaf 7 tier greenstalk has some strawberries plants growing from bare roots. They are the Eversweet Everbearing kind. I got them on Amazon and they started pushing out leaves within a few days of planting.

I also purchased White Carolina Pineberry bare roots. They look like white strawberries but they have a pineapple / strawberry flavor. I’ve heard they’re good for people who are allergic to pineapple. They are a little bit slower growers, but I’m very excited for the day I finally get to try these interesting fruits.

🌸 I got two trellises off of Amazon and added two of my planters to the front of my garden. It’s starting to feel like a whimsical place to be. I can’t wait until there are vining plants covering these trellises.

👩🏻‍🌾 Currently in the greenstalks, there are some basil seedlings I direct sowed. The larger plants are some basil plants my mom got for me at the grocery store. I was worried they wouldn’t make it. They died back at first, but they actually pulled through and started shooting out some new growth!

🪴 The last picture is of an okra seedling’s birthday. It popped up in my raised beds after direct sowing. I don’t have a ton of high expectations for the garden this year since I’m building it all out from scratch right now. But, the okra seedling made me so happy to see. Seedlings really just want to grow, don’t they?
