Plant Delights Nursery is located on the campus of Juniper Level Botanic Garden. JLBG is a private, and not-for-profit, 28+ acre botanic garden displaying over 22,000 different plants from around the world. JLBG maintains world-class plant collections of Agave, Amorphophallus, Arisaema, Arum, Asarum, Aspidistra, Baptisia, Carex, Clumping Bamboo, Colocasias, Crinums, Epimediums, Eucomis, Farfugium,
Hardy Garden Ferns, Hardy Garden Orchids, Hardy Palm Trees, Hedychium, Hellebores, Hosta, Hymenocalliis, Iris species, Ledebouria, Lilium species, Liriope, Lycoris, Mahonia, Musa, Ophiopogon, Ornamental Grasses, Perennial Salvias, Podophyllum, Polygonatum, Rohdea, Ruscus, Sarracenia, Sedum, Selaginella, Sinningia, Tricyrtis, Trillium, Yuccas, Zephyranthes, etc. Many offerings were discovered by owner, Tony Avent, during his more than 70 plant hunting expeditions across the US and to exotic places such as Argentina, Bosnia, China, Crete, Croatia, Korea, Mexico, Montenegro, Slovenia, South Africa, Thailand, and North Vietnam. In addition to being a plant explorer and businessman, Tony Avent is a renowned plantsman, a successful author, and a popular public speaker who tours nationally. Plant Delights Nursery is known for its print catalog which features humorous and topical cover art as well as irreverent, witty and sometimes edgy prose. Plant Delights Nursery and Tony Avent have been featured in The Martha Stewart Show, Almanac Gardener, Southern Living, Horticulture, Fine Gardening, New York Times, Houston Chronicle, Chicago Tribune, and News & Observer. Plant Delights Nursery received the 2014 Green Thumb Award from the Direct Gardening Association, the Perennial Plant Association's 2011 Retail Award, and was named one of the Top 7 mail order nurseries in the U.S. by Garden Design Magazine in 2010.
