We will be at the Southern Ideal Home Show April 10-12, 2026 at the State Fair Grounds with a selection of natives, pollinators, and edibles. Booth 301.

Our April meeting speaker is Dan Danford. For several years he has been the person bring you the flower show at the state fair.

Dan Danford plays the central role in one of North Carolina’s most visited agricultural showcases—the horticulture and flower show division of the North Carolina State Fair.

Serving as superintendent of the program, Dan oversees the coordination, evaluation, and presentation of hundreds of plant-based exhibits that reflect both the state’s agricultural heritage and its evolving horticultural practices.

In addition to his work with the State Fair, Dan serves as a plant specialist at Campbell Road Nursery in Raleigh, where he provides guidance to gardeners across a range of experience levels. His dual roles—public-facing at the fair and community-based in retail horticulture—position him as both an educator and practitioner.

Monthly meetings begin officially at 7:30 PM at the Ruby McSwain Education Center, JC Raulston Arboretum, on the third Tuesday of each month (that’s the 21st in April this year). Refreshments and social time start at 7:00. Visitors and prospective new members are always welcome. A free of charge event.

Gardeners of Wake County 45th annual azalea sale resumes today Monday March 30. Venue is the NC State Fair grounds under the To***co Pavilion (same place as last year). Best to enter at a Youth Center Road gate. Daily 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM through April 4 or until sold out.

The sale re-starts tomorrow Monday March 30, 2026. Venue is the NC State Fair grounds under the To***co Pavilion (same as last year). Best to enter at a Youth Center Road gate. Daily 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM through April 4 unless earlier sold out. Profits help benefit NCSU Horticulture Department scholarships.

The GWC azalea sale has just finished for today Saturday March 28. The sale is paused for tomorrow Sunday the 29th. We will reopen Monday the 30th.

At church today tell people to come see us on Monday.
