FIRST BLOOM AT THE HOMESTEAD!!

First of its kind, the world famous, space-age floral wonder of 1954.

Lloyd Austin introduced ‘Unicorn’ from his commercial garden with the astronomical asking price of $100 (equivalent to $1,200 in dollars today).

Soon after learning this history, we obtained this cultivar from Alleah’s longtime iris pals in California. Been waiting FIVE years to see it bloom. We suspect the strange temperature fluctuations this season made petite little flounces instead of horns.

Welcome home little one. I guess unicorns are real 🦄, and they multiply as rhizomes.
