Love, remembrance, respect: CALA is humbled to be one of three finalists submitting designs for a memorial at Kitty Fernandez Park in Half Moon Bay. Our design honors the legacy of seven Chinese and Mexican farmworkers who tragically lost their lives on January 23, 2023.
Inspired by the rhythms of farm life, our concept is divided into three zones– sunrise, daytime, and sunset. This layout offers a space for reflection, healing, and connection, while celebrating the resilience and invaluable contribution of farmworkers.

Payne Avenue Friendship Park, San Jose: This 2 acre neighborhood park has been long awaited to help address park deficiency in an underserved part of the City. CALA helped the City from outreach through construction with the park opening in 2024! Park amenities include: community garden, picnic areas, play areas, fitness equipment, game tables, open space, parking. Current amenities were strategically placed to accommodate a future community center.

City of Reno Playground Renovations: Growing at a rapid rate, the City realized the need to renovate several of their playgrounds and parks. CALA’s Reno office has been helping the City with several of these renovations. Improvements include preliminary design plans for play areas, grading, drainage and site construction plans.

Fayette Park: This mini park is one of our San Jose office staff's favorite projects. Not only does this park have a cool nature vibe going with the beehive style playground and benches shaped like squirrels and lizards, but it was also one of our most successful outreach programs - all done virtually due to the pandemic in 2020!

Spring Lake Parks, Woodland: 4 parks within the Spring Lake Subdivision. CALA has been working with the City for a few years providing outreach through construction administration to ensure these parks serve the growing community. Picnic areas, play areas (including zip line/adventure play & nature play areas!), flex greenspace, multi-use fields, ball fields, walking paths, fitness stations, sports courts and more!
