Architerra Design Group continues to produce exciting parks, streetscapes, and amenities for Tri Pointe Homes at their 1,543-acre master-planned residential community, “Atwell,” in Banning, CA.

Architerra has worked diligently with the Tri Pointe team to create cohesively themed parks, playgrounds, Wiffle ball fields, dog parks, gathering areas, recreation centers, shade structures, nature trails, planted parkways and medians, and even a functioning stream water feature.

We are proud to have produced such exciting designs throughout the Atwell community with Tri Pointe Homes and look forward to seeing its continued success!

Happy Earth Day !

Earth Day gives voice to environmental consciousness and inspires people to protect the planet from pollution, deforestation, and other environmental issues. The first Earth Day dates to 1969, when senator Ga***rd Nelson from Wisconsin developed an agenda for environmental protection to diminish the effects of pollution. From Coast to Coast, US citizens from all the states protested, and the Congress authorized the creation of a new federal agency to tackle environmental issues: the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Over the Years, Earth Day has been celebrated by over 140 countries around the world, and it is currently one of the largest civil observances.

Learn How you can Help!

-Plant a Tree.

-Utilize drought tolerant and climate adapted plants in your yard instead of turf grass.

-Install water saving irrigation systems such as drip irrigation.

-Participate in Recycling Events.

-Use of Reusable bags and other plastics.

-Reduce electricity consumption. Turn off the Lights and shut off electronics.

-Walk and Ride your Bike More often instead of using a car.

Happy International Day of Zero Waste!

Today we highlight the need for better waste management in how we grow food and drive to move for a more sustainable future. Most of the food waste happens at the household level, and the rest comes from production, distribution, and consumption. Tackling inefficient waste management requires redesigning systems and transitioning towards more sustainable approaches such as composting and water smart irrigation systems.

As landscape architects we pride ourselves on designing spaces that can promote food security through sustainable design by creating community gardens that provide the spaces necessary for community members to grow their own food, locally, in a sustainable manner. Utilizing industry standard irrigation systems that conserve water and designating areas for composting we reduce food waste, lower our water use, fertilizer inputs, and the carbon footprint required to ship food all while growing the fruits and vegetables our communities desire.

We all have a role to play! Here are Some Tips to Reduce Food Waste as Consumers:

1. Plan, buy, store and prepare meals mindfully.

2. Support the food redistribution and composting initiative. Use compost bins instead of your standard landfill bins, turning organic waste into nutrient-rich soil.

3. Create an edible garden in your back yard or participate in your local community garden.

4. Plan to water your plants either in the morning or late afternoon to avoid unnecessary evapotranspiration and conserve water. Use a “smart” irrigation controller when possible to get the most benefit.
