Swipe to see our Easter Lily bloom! We got more than two dozen flowers from our most mature Easter Lily Cacti over a two day period. The wind did break a few flowers off of the smaller one, but it was such a sight to behold! These are some of my favorite blooms that we have each spring. Here's to hoping some were pollinated! 🌸🌡✨

This Desert Rose is a rehab plant given to me by a family member years ago who had struggled to keep it happy. It was also the only plant damaged by the tree that fell through our greenhouse earlier this year. Seeing it blooming right as we put up the back wall this last week felt symbolic of a new beginning. Like this Desert Rose, the greenhouse went from ugly to beautiful again. I am so thrilled to have made it through this mess with help from friends and family. Thank you! ❀️

Well guys, we did it! We finally got the back wall re-built in the greenhouse. In order to keep the buggos out and the plants safe from the elements we worked inside with the tarp covering the damage. It was hot, it was crooked and uncooperative, but we got it as straight as possible and as secure as we could. The rear vent turned on for the first time this morning and it was like music to my ears. A major thank you to Salman Hendershot for his help with this project. We couldn't have done it without you! Next week we will make cut outs for the swamp coolers and get those going. 😎✨

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of visiting Duren's Rush Creek Produce in Aiden, CA for a tour. Danny showed us around and answered our questions. They grow beautiful organic hydroponic vegetables and have a wide variety of greens. They were setting up their tomatoes and peppers while we were there. Pictured behind us are some of the NFT systems he uses to grow their vegetables. In this set up you plant your seeds in a hydroponic media (they were using Oasis cubes) and set them in a hole cut out in the gutter. Some set ups will use net pots but these were shallow and didn't require a pot. Nutrient water flows down the gutters which are at a slight angle to allow the water to constantly flow past the media and go to a drain that takes the water back to the reservoir. We made a yummy salad for dinner with a head of the Tropicana lettuce we bought during our visit (My personal favorite to grow). It was delicious. If you live in Modoc county you can purchase Danny's produce through Modoc Harvest Food Hub at modocharvest.org. Thank you Danny for allowing us to come out and visit and showing us your farm. πŸ₯¬

Hey there everybody! Yesterday morning we had a neighbor's tree fall on the back rib of the greenhouse. You may have read about this in our story yesterday. I want to give a little update. Here I have the video from our cameras showing the tree fall through the greenhouse at 01:53:13. Luckily the wooden reinforcements we built into the structure saved it from being a total wash. We are in the process of dealing with insurance to see if it will be covered. I feel very lucky to have such wonderful people in our life who rush to help us get it picked up and sealed back up before the sun went down yesterday. Our friend Toby at Easy Does It Tree service brought his entire crew over to remove the tree for us. After the tree was out our family showed up to help us seal it up for the night. The temperatures held at 59Β° at the lowest point of the night. That is truly surprising considering the roof is only covered by a thin tarp. The weather can't seem to make its mind up, but it seems like we may be getting some snow tomorrow. We were able to use a small piece of solexx (the material the walls are made with) to cover the very top of the greenhouse hopefully allowing for the snow to slide off instead of settle on top of the tarp. I've had several of you send me messages offering to come and help us reconstruct and it means the world to us. πŸ₯° Please bear with us while we try to work out the details on how we will be rebuilding. ❀️
