Hey y’all 👋 I know I have been really bad at keeping up with this page since the housefire, but after a whole year of filling my new home with plants, I’m finally back with an announcement! 🪴
Not only will I have a lot of small houseplants ready to go to new homes just in time for the arrival of spring, but I’m also happy to start offering a seed starting service for anyone who is interested! I have heard a lot of people express frustration and say they have “black thumbs” for failing at their first gardening attempts, so I thought this might be something useful for anyone who wants to take another shot at gardening (as well as for experienced gardeners who want to grow new varieties without adding a bunch more packets to their seed collections.) Now accepting orders for this through April!
What would this entail? I will be offering a few different options appropriate for different levels of gardening experience:
1) seedling tray: the experienced gardener option ($6 for 6 plant seedlings-$1 per plant!) 6 seeds of your choice (any variety) started for you in a basic 6-cell seedling tray, provided to you within one week of germination. This is the no-frills option for anyone who might just want a good deal on a variety of different plants at once without buying 6 different packets of seeds, but are also experienced enough in gardening to take the wheel after they’ve sprouted.
2) 4” nursery pot: the intermediate gardener option ($3 per plant): seeds of your choice germinated for you and transferred into a small 4” nursery pot prior to delivery to you to allow a little more time before you would need to transplant to larger pots or into the ground outside (though some experience acclimating plants is still recommended.)
3) 4-6” nursery pot with acclimation included: the inexperienced gardener option ($5 per plant): seeds of your choice germinated and transferred to a 4-6” pot (depending on variety / size of the plant) as well as acclimated to outdoor conditions gradually for one full week prior to delivery to you. This is recommended for new gardeners - slow acclimation of indoor plants to outside conditions is usually where inexperienced gardeners have the most trouble, ending up with sunburnt and dying plants. With my mini greenhouse and shade cloths, I can take care of the gradual acclimation for you (but at a higher cost, since it is more time consuming on my part). All you’d have to do is transplant the plant into its final pot or space in the ground after it’s delivered to you (which I can also help with!)
I have almost 100 different varieties in my seed collection (lots of peppers, veggies, herbs, flowers, even orange watermelon!) so please message me with any varieties you’re curious about growing and we can go from there! Please note that some seeds (such as carrots) should be directly sewn and are not recommended for transplanting, so I can’t start seeds for those kinds of varieties for you, but I’m still happy to share seeds for those varieties with you for planting in ground yourself!
I’m offering prices lower than you could buy plants for at big box stores because I truly believe everyone should experience growing their own food at least once. The grow lights are always on over here - let me help you get started! 🌱💚
