With our recent cold stretch and accumulation of snow, many homes have a lot of weight on their roof and may be starting to form ice dams.

While most conventional roofing materials are made to shed water, they are not intended to be waterproof. Ice dams allow water to back up and be held on your roof, making your home susceptible to water damage.

Our team offers over a decade of roofing experience, to give you peace of mind that your home will be taken care of properly to ensure that no further damage occurs! We are licensed and insured, with all tools and equipment nexessary to remove your snow load (which also helps from ice dams progressing).

It should also be noted that ice damming does not typically occur on a properly functioning roof system. If your home has ice damming, you are most likely experiencing an insulation/ventilation issue that should be addressed before next winter.

Siding an old house, presents unique challenges. Combining those challenges with the goal of making an old structure and a new addition look as though they were built at the same time, rather than one being an afterthought; takes a lot of planning and some creative problem solving skills, to say the least

Over 1,050,000 square inches of siding for our first ever Diamond Kote, by LP Smartside, project. And we knocked it out of the park!

While replacing the roof on this beautiful Victorian home earlier this year, we noticed that these window sills had seen better days. After letting the homeowner know, we added this project to our schedule.
What started as a window removal and sill replacement turned into a quasi-historical window restoration as well. All three windows needed the old glazing removed and replaced. One window had substantial water damage limited to only one corner, that was able to be repaired by sanding out the rotted material and using wood putty; to make it look as though there was never any issue. The third window had to be completely deconstructed, to replace the center style and bottom rail. Considering the age of these windows, you can not go out and buy these pieces. You have to recreate the, likely to be, near 100 year old craftsmanship.
During this project, while exploring different options, the homeowner decided to wrap the sills of these windows in custom fabricated aluminum while leaving the rest of the area the way it was. With proper flashing and wrapping techniques this will stop the sills from rotting out again, while drawing minimal attention as to not take away from the structures historical aesthetic.

When this customer contacted us, it was with the objective of installing a larger garage door to accommodate their new vehicle. Upon inspection, it was discovered that a process known as “rust jacking” had caused cracking (highlighted with red lines), compromising the integrity of the structure.
The original blocks (from the 1950’s) are no longer in production; after salvaging what we could of the original material and careful consideration, the homeowner decided to utilize the closest available product. As evident, the Bella Briks used are not an exact match; however, it was a more cost-effective solution than rebuilding the entire garage.
While addressing our structural concerns, the original goal of expanding the door opening was achieved, resulting in another satisfied customer.

Grading issues outside of this garage led to water damage on the load-bearing wall, causing significant deterioration of the sill plate, bottom plate, and even a few studs. This resulted in a 3” sag from the corners to the lowest point in the roof line. To address this issue, a string was run and the roof was jacked up to restore its original alignment, thereby relieving the load on the wall. With temporary support in place, the damaged area was then excavated, and all compromised wood was removed and replaced with suitable materials.

With the alley so close, correcting the grade issue that caused the problem was not really an option. Our solution included proper flashing, paired with a “French drain” system and using all pressure treated material to insure that our customer does not have to worry about this issue occurring again.

This spring when we are back to handle other projects, we will be installing seamless gutter in this area to match the rest of the house. This will reduce the amount of water that our French drain needs to accommodate, to further ensure that no future problems arise.
