MYTH: VA loans are a nightmare (we’ve heard many contractors say this)
FACT: VA loans may “seem” like a nightmare if your contractor is unable to meet the high standards that are required by the US Dept. of Veterans Affairs. They are incredibly strict with contractors; special vetting is done on the contractor and they must be a licensed, bonded and insured General Contractor and have excellent credit and financial history, provide a one year builders warranty, ten year structural warranty for new builds, and craftsmanship is held to the highest standard of stage-by-stage inspections. Finding a VA approved general contractor can be difficult, and the VA only works with a specific group of lenders. Northern Homes has been a registered VA builder for over 20 years and we pride ourselves on delivering the highest standard of craftsmanship to our veterans. One of our most recent homes we sold through the VA and the inspector who was sent out for the final inspection wrote that the home was one of the best houses he’s ever inspected when it comes to quality craftsmanship.
