🚪 If your garage door won't open from inside and you're stuck in your own garage, the first thing to check is the wall button and manual release cord. Most Fairwood homeowners don't realize that a tripped sensor, disconnected wall switch, or accidentally pulled emergency release can leave you temporarily locked in.
Start by testing the wall button. If nothing happens, check that the opener unit has power and that no circuit breakers have tripped. 🔧 If the opener runs but the door doesn't move, someone may have pulled the red manual release handle, which disconnects the trolley from the chain or belt drive. Push the door up manually, then pull the release cord toward the motor to re-engage it.
If you're still stuck and can't figure out what's wrong, don't force anything. We respond quickly to situations like this around Renton and King County.
